Zakynthos has to demonstrate a lot of sights of incomparable natural beauty but also of historical interest. In the town of Zakynthos, it is worth a tour at the church of St. Dionysios, at the Ecclesiastical Museum, at the Castle of St. George and the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Zakynthos, which houses the Municipal Library, at the Historical Archive of Zakynthos and the Museum of Occupation and National Resistance, and the Museum of Dionysios Solomos and of the eminent people of Zakynthos.
The sight of the bay of Laganas is the monument of Andre Vezal, a Belgian doctor of Renaissance times, 'the father of anatomy', the Basilica of Pantokratoras, built by the Byzantine empress Poulcheria and the Keri Lake, where the source of Herodotou is located and the only insectivorous plant Urticularia thrives.
Also,someone will find noteworthy the cave of Damaniou and the twelve wells in the area of Andronikou, the Monastery of Yperagathou , the Black Cave in Kalithea, the Kato Lakos(Down Pit), deep circular track surrounded by rocks probably because the roof of the cave collapsed and the Mycenaean tombs in Kampi. At the east side of Zakynthos we can visit the Vertzageio Folk Museum at the village Pigadakia, the Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos, the Blue Caves at the Cape Skinari and the sea cave Dragkounara.
